What is a Phish?
Phishing scams are like a hungry shark in your inbox. It can be dressed to look like it is from a well known company, your boss, co-worker or even a friend, just waiting for you to bite.
These emails usually come with urgent messages like “Your account has been suspended” or “You missed a delivery.” They might include fake links or attachments that look legit but are designed to steal your login info, infect your computer, or trick you into handing over sensitive data. The scammers are clever and every day the emails get better and better. They send out millions and just need one wrong click, and they’ve got you in their JAWs.
🎣 Watch for These Phishy Red Flags
- “Urgent” or threatening messages
“Your account will be locked!” — Don’t take the bait. - Suspicious-looking links
Hover before you click. Does the URL look… off? - Unexpected attachments
Especially ZIPs, PDFs, or anything from someone you didn’t ask. - Generic greetings
“Dear user” or “Valued customer” instead of your name? Hook alert. - Requests for personal info
No real company will ask for your password, SSN, or credit card in an email. - Look-alike sender addresses
